Investments to encourage more people to get active and connect with facilities in their town have included the installation of a new Parklet.
The Parklet has been situated in High Street, Cheadle, near Stockport.
Featuring planters and seating, the hardwood decked unit replaces a small area of highway in the town centre.
Community leaders hope the facility will bring people together to relax and chat, giving shoppers and visitors a pleasant space to enjoy a breather and the opportunity to spend more time in the area.
The Parklet was designed by Broxap Street Furniture for client Totally Local Company on behalf of the Cheadle Towns Fund Board.
The board is made up of civic and business leaders who bid for money to drive improvements in the area.
The Parklet, which brings together planters, two corner benches and a triangular bench from our modular range, was funded following a successful £500,000 application to the Government’s Towns Fund Accelerated Scheme.
Councillor David Meller, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economy at Stockport Council, said: “Our vision is to promote safe and active travel, green growth and health and wellbeing, to bring people back into Cheadle.”
The Parklet in Cheadle features Iroko hardwood slats. The galvanised steel frame and panels were powder coated RAL7016 Anthracite Grey.
