The £60 million Curzon Building is at the heart of Birmingham City University’s campus and is home to the Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences. The innovative teaching and learning space for staff and students has a range of state-of-the-art facilities including mock courtrooms, psychology labs and the City Centre Library.

The university wanted a range of street furniture to complement the building. Working with Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd, Broxap designed and manufactured litter bins and a contemporary timber bench.

Our Sandwell Bench is designed to comfortably seat many people at the same time and has a sleek, modern look that complements the university’s contemporary architecture. It features a galvanised and powder coated finish in Umbra Grey (RAL 7022). The European oak slats on the bench were finished with teak oil that penetrated the wood's grain, providing a protective barrier against moisture, UV rays and harsh weather elements.

Broxap’s Westleigh Litter Bins were also manufactured as part of the project. These litter bins are designed for outdoor use and are resistant to rust and corrosion thanks to the galvanised steel litter and powder coated frame.

The university was very pleased with the quality of the bench and litter bins and appreciated our prompt and efficient service. They found the bench comfortable, sturdy, and easy to maintain, while the litter bins helped keep their outdoor space clean and tidy.
