Monmouthshire County Council launched an anti-littering campaign to raise awareness of littering and to encourage everyone to take their litter home. The campaign, titled ‘Don’t Mess With Monmouthshire’, also coincided with Keep Wales Tidy’s Autumn Clean Cymru, which runs every September, and appealed for communities to come forward and volunteer for a seasonal litter picking exercise.

To support this campaign, the council appointed Broxap to design and manufacture over 50 new litter and recycling bins. The range included our Derby Richmond Recycling Bins, which were fully covered in vinyl artwork decals to promote people to recycle their litter correctly. Some had bright graphics printed, with images of the sea and witty text reading ‘Recycle, or the fish get it’; whilst other simply printed contrasting text stating what can and can’t be put in the bin.

The bins also featured hand-drawn illustrations on the sides. These artworks, created by children from a nearby primary school, served as a gentle and colourful reminder for people to refrain from littering and to opt for recycling instead.

A selection of our Derby Double E Recycling Bins, also finished similarly to the Derby Richmond Recycling Bins, were installed in various locations across the city and in Monmouthshire’s known ‘grotspots’ where littering is particularly common.

Councillor Jane Pratt, cabinet member with responsibility for Climate Emergency stated, “The message is simple – whatever you take to a beauty spot, please take home again afterwards and help preserve the beauty of Monmouthshire for residents and for visitors.”
