At Newton Prep School in London, pupils follow an extensive games programme including traditional team sports such as football, netball, hockey and cricket.
But their introduction to physical activity starts straight from lower school with a wide range of onsite facilities to encourage lifelong healthy habits among children.
New playground equipment was designed, manufactured and installed by Hand Made Places for the youngest students to aid skills such as balance and coordination as well as inspire little ones to have fun while staying active.
The lower school playground now boasts a Congo Rope Climber – an ambitious climbing frame constructed of nets of various sizes around a timber frame, complete with stepping logs to give little legs a lift up.
The entertaining and fun challenges continue with the Swing Steps, where users have to cross the frame by stretching from step to step holding on to the rope supports.
If they manage to complete the V Bridge, balancing along the rope path, the final challenge is a Rota Log which turns beneath their feet as users make their way across testing their agility skills to the max.
We completed the installation with soft artificial grass, and included a Butterfly Playground Sculpture and a Dragonfly Playground Sculpture at the end of the Trim Trail where lower school pupils can play, rest and socialise together.
