Having a fenced outdoor area already, Saint Paul’s CE Academy contacted Broxap with a view to providing a canopy to create an outdoor area that could be utilised whatever the weather and also allow play equipment, table and chairs to remain outside.
Broxap suggested this Newcastle Monopitch canopy simple yet with unobtrusive columns that would sit within the existing fence and provide good cover from rain and also protection from UV rays.
The school discussed colour options too and it was agreed that the columns and front purlins would be in a red to match the existing school facade and window roller shutters whilst the roofing elements would be in yellow to match the fencing.
This two colour combination adds a striking finish to the simple canopy and offers a bright, light covered play area that is used for both play and learning all year around.
Rainwater runs to the front of the canopy where aluminium guttering takes it to a downpipe attached to the furthest column and shed at ground level. 16mm Multiwall polycarbonate roof panels provide a good source of UV filtration on even the sunniest of days.
