Washwood Heath Academy is a place where children from all backgrounds and abilities can be safe, happy and inspired to achieve. The school is known for its innovative approach to education and community engagement.
They required durable, aesthetically pleasing canopies to provide shelter for various applications. Broxap, a leading custom canopy design, manufacture, and installation company, was selected to fulfil this requirement.
Our design team proposed one of our modern Newcastle Monopitch canopies for the outdoor play area. This design featured a clear-span structure to ensure an unobstructed area beneath the canopy, 16mm thick multi-wall polycarbonate roof cladding, and galvanised columns with a powder-coated finish. Purple cushioned wraps were placed around the framework for safety and warmth.
The school also required a shelter where older children could park their bikes safely. To meet this need, a custom version of our robust Newcastle Senior 5000mm Shelter was installed near the school's entrance. This shelter, featuring a 5mm PET UV Clearview roof cladding, is designed to withstand various weather conditions, ensuring the safety and protection of the bikes. It was complemented with two of our Mild Steel 'Senior Sheffield' Cycle Racks, each with the capacity to fit 12 bikes.
The completed canopies provided a versatile outdoor space for playing, learning and cycle parking, enhancing the school's aesthetic appeal.
As part of our comprehensive solution, we also supplied the school with additional outdoor furniture. This included Stainless Steel Bollards, providing a clear delineation of spaces, and our Willenhall Steel benches featuring FSC certified timber slats, offering a comfortable seating option for the students.
