Ysgol Gymraeg Cwm Gwyddon has a school aim of assisting every pupil to reach their full potential in a happy, friendly and creative environment where the Welsh language thrives and to prepare pupils to be lifelong learners.

The school opened the doors to their new site, located on the site of the former Cwmcarn Comprehensive School, in November 2023.

The new building has been designed to accommodate the Welsh primary school which has dramatically increased in numbers over the years and has been funded jointly by Caerphilly Council and Welsh Government through the Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme, which forms part of the Council’s wider Place Shaping Strategy.

As part of the new spacious school site, Broxap designed and manufactured new outdoor furniture and cycle parking to accommodate the modern and light teaching spaces and extensive outdoor learning area. This included a Square Conic Canopy, a waterproof tensile structure providing shade and protection in all weathers.

The project also included our Whitwell Timber Benches and Modular Radius Seats. Manufactured from FSC-certified timber, these areas provide comfortable outdoor seating for students and staff all year round.

Our Cambridge Junior Cycle Shelter, complete with our renowned stainless steel Sheffield Cycle Hoops, give students a sheltered and secure place to park their bikes during the school day. Door barriers were also installed to create a safe space for doors to be opened without the potential risk of accidents with people or damage to property.

Cllr. Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education & Communities, said, “The whole school community work hard to ensure that pupil wellbeing is at the heart of all that they do and I have no doubt that on this new site they will continue to go from strength to strength.”
